The Sharks Call

I was in Mt Shasta last summer when my friend Robin called to ask if I wanted to go to the Maldives and dive with the whale sharks. My immediate response was “Yes”! Yet I told her I needed to think about it for a few days, since I had been traveling so much and was starting to get a little road weary. I wasn’t sure when I was going to be able to get into my condo, as it was still boarded up with hurricane work.

I kept hearing the sharks. “Come”, they said to me. “We have been waiting to see you!”

They felt like long lost friends.

Sharks are masters of presence, discernment, forward motion, and detection of even the slightest movement. They also have a sense of humor, and have so much to teach us. The first thing is to know is that we do not need to fear them. It is best to have respect-as with all of nature. We need to honor their territory, and remember that the sharks keep the oceans clean. They are a necessary being to our environment.

The Spirit of the Shark has many messages for us.

After I said yes, shark messages showed up everywhere. I swam by a baby shark on my beach in florida, and a famous shark conservationist in Hawaii -Ocean Ramsey- came across my screen. I bought her book and started following her amazing work.

I saw shark pictures and shark teeth.

Scuba diving in the Maldives is quite famous for whale sharks, tiger sharks, sea turtles and colorful fish. And the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean.

The flight time was close to 18 hours with an auspicious layover in Istanbul.

Many messages of adventure and blue lights, a continued calling from the sea. On the final leg, I sat next to a lady from Serbia who frequently visits the maldives. She had a brilliance about her and very direct way of speaking. She told me once you go to the Maldives you keep coming back! She wore small silver dragon earrings. I know we were friends in another time, another place.

We were blessed by the magnificence of the sunrise as we flew east, and the view of the Indian Ocean on descent was breathtaking.

Tomorrow I head out to the islands of Dhangethi and Fuvamulah to see my long - but not - lost friends of the blue waters.

Come with me in Spirit to swim with the sharks!

In the spirit of love and adventure,

Michelle
